The Higher Life in Christ: Rev. Andrew Murray’s Insights and Life in Holiness is a manual for spiritual growth, and a manifesto for the Church’s return to the emphasis on personal holiness that Christ intended with His gift of the Holy Spirit. This book is especially for long-time Christians who sense that they are not progressing to the degree that they should be into the full embodiment of the Spirit-filled life—that is, Christ’s abiding presence, likeness, and power. The lesser part of this book is a “spiritual biography”, it is the story of how this long-time zealous Reformed and Evangelical minister was surprised by his discovery of the Holy Spirit and his experience of so much “more of God. ” It captures the contexts of Murray’s spiritual transformation across at least four distinctive eventful periods after his initial conversion and ordainment—that is, his discovery of the Holy Spirit in South Africa’s Revival, his grasping of a “fuller salvation” in the emerging and broader Holiness movement, his experience of Divine healing, and his joy in finding still more of God in later life, guided by writings of the Reformed Christian mystics. The greater part of this text is a systematic theology of higher Christian life belief-strands that Murray was gradually acquiring and evangelizing in the Church over fifty-seven years of ministry towards his stated goal of “a second Reformation. ” On each of these topics, we read continual and copious excerpts of the best of Murray’s best insights.

This new youngster romance contains two separate stories by two different journalists, but both stories are light and fun analyses of youngster love, and without some of the graphic content you don’t enjoy.

This edition has unlikeable characters (particularly the protagonist) and a weak practice, but Naipaul's manuscription style is so stunning I had to give it a 3. I will definitely be account more Naipaul in the future.

For those who read and enjoyed Relatives Red for it's strength on fast-paced fight arenas, you might be a little disappointed with this potboiler. Sweetly reads more like a mystery potboiler with a deuce of fight arenas interspersed throughout the potboiler. There is philosophy again, but a different type than in the last book, which makes name of the game because they are different customers living in the same creation as the customers of Relatives Red. I loved when hints of the Hansel and Gretel story came out, and I also liked that having read Relatives Red, I caught on to things that weren't fully explained here (because these customers, unlike Scarlett and Rosie, don't know all they mythology about the leviathans they're interacting with), so it's definitely better to read it after the first book. That said, you'll learn new mythologies that never came up before. All in all, I enjoyed this book, but just keep in mind that the story doesn't follow the same credo as the previous potboiler did.
